Investigation
If you have already performed a cystometry or pressure-flow study, leave the
catheter in the bladder and remove the tape of the bladder catheter.
Do not zero! You can start the investigation immediately.
Click the
Urethral pressure profile
button to start the pre-test.

Prepare the pump and the pump tube as described in § 2.5.4.
❑
Prepare the flowmeter as described in § 2.5.11 (if applicable).
❑
Prepare and insert the catheters (if applicable). Follow the procedure
for:
o
Reusable solid-state catheters (see § 3.3),
o
Air-charged catheters (see § 3.5) or
o
Single use e
•Sense solid-state catheters (see § 3.4),
o
Water catheters (see § 3.6).
Do not fix the bladder catheter.

Locate the vesical sensor (P
ves
) and the urethral sensor (P
ura
) both in
the bladder and watch the graphs carefully. Check that P
ves
and P
ura
are
almost equal.

Connect the pump tube to the filling lumen of the catheter.
❑
Prepare the EMG cables and apply the EMG electrodes as described
in § 2.5.10 (if applicable).

Prepare the catheter puller as described in § 2.5.12 (if applicable).
Move the puller clamp to the tip of the puller arm. Position the puller in
front of the urethra and mount the catheter on the puller clamp.

Explain the patient how to cough during the measurement (a short and
strong cough).
Press the
Start investigation
button.
Press the
Pump
button to start the pump. Fill the bladder with 50 to
100 ml.
Press the
Pump
button to stop the pump.
