134 Hydraulic System
The entire system will require between 50 and 60 gallons of oil.
5.
If the suction line has been replaced, fill the line until oil reaches the pump (see
6.
Reinstall the access panel, the strainer and the return filter housing.
7.
Reinstall the filler cap and fully open the shut-off valve (see Figure 2
13).
8.
Prime the pump (see
Priming a New Pump on page 126).
9.
Start the engine.
Inspecting Hydraulic Cylinders
I
MPORTANT
:
You must inspect all hydraulic cylinders at least once a month.
When you do so:
1.
Make sure that the ball valve (or shut-off valve) [see Figure 2
13] on the suction line is
completely open before starting the engine.
2.
Make sure that connections between all hoses and pipes are tight, and that no oil is leaking.
Leaking or otherwise faulty cylinders must be repaired or replaced immediately.
3.
Make sure that all cylinder caps are firmly set and that there are no leaks.
Caution!
It is not recommended to mix different brands and/or grades of oil in the hydraulic tank.
Caution!
Failure to open the shut-off valve may seriously damage the pump and the hydraulic
system.
Danger!
Always lock out and tag out the vehicle when inspecting it or performing maintenance
on it (see
Locking Out and Tagging Out the Vehicle
Warning!
Failure to open the ball valve (or shut-off valve) may damage the hydraulic system
including the pump.
