:
Most of the time, mechanics are able to access both chute cylinders without having to remove
all two protective panels. Just removing the right-hand side panel is usually sufficient for
mechanics to perform the task of disconnecting both chute cylinders.
12.
Remove the other protective panel by removing its retaining bolts.
13.
Start the engine and engage the hydraulic pump.
14.
Raise the crusher panel.
15.
Place both chutes in vertical position.

16.
Turn OFF the hydraulic pump and stop the engine.
17.
Lock out and tag out the vehicle (see
Locking Out and Tagging Out the Vehicle
18.
Use a suitable lifting device (e.g. sling or cable) to hold the chute in place.
19.
Through the opening created by the removal of the right-hand side protective panel, remove the
two cotter pins that hold the cylinder pins in (see Figure 3
132).
Since there are two independently moving chutes in the hopper, two cylinders are needed to
operate them. Each of these cylinders has its rod attached to the chute lever by a pin secured by a
cotter pin.
Danger!
Never enter the hopper while the hydraulic system is engaged.
