8. Troubleshooting
If your LaCinema Black is not working correctly, please refer to
the following checklist to determine the source of the problem. If
you have gone through all of the points on the checklist and your
LaCinema Black still does not work properly, please check
the FAQs that are regularly published on our website –
www.lacie.com. One of these FAQs may provide an answer to
your specific question. You can also visit the downloads page,
where the most recent software updates will be available.

How do you know which firmware
version your LaCinema Black is
using?
To check which firmware is currently installed on your LaCinema
Black, use the remote control to navigate to the
Settings > Version
menu. The firmware version will be displayed.

DivX® and XviD®
compatibility.
When a new version of DivX® or
XviD® is released, will the LaCin-
ema Black be able to play those
files, too?
Provided that the new version complies with the ISO MPEG- 4 stan-
dard, the LaCinema Black should be able to play the new versions.
Does the LaCinema Black support
external subtitles with DivX® files?
Yes, the LaCinema Black does support this functionality by using
Unicode text files with extensions .sub (MicroDVD format) and .smi.
In order to work correctly, use the same file name for both the video
file and subtitle text file, and store both of them in the same folder
location on your LaCinema Black. For example, if the file name of the
video file is “Movie.avi,” then you will need to re-name the subtitle text
as either “Movie.sub” or “Movie.srt.”
