EXCERPT FROM THE BGV A3
§ 5 Inspections
(1) The employer must ensure that the proper condition of the
electrical systems and equipment is inspected
1. before using the equipment for the first time and other an
alteration or repair before being used again by an electrician
or under the supervision of an electrician and
2. at regular intervals.
The intervals are to be calculated in such a manner that defects
which must be handled are detected in a timely manner.
(2) The electrical engineering regulations relevant to the inspection
are to be followed.
(3) Upon request by the professional association, an inspection
log with specific entries is to be maintained.
(4) The inspection before the first commissioning as per paragraph
1 is not required if the employer receives confirmation from the
manufacturer or installer that the electrical systems and equip-
ment have been correspondingly procured in accordance with
these accident prevention guidelines.

Inspection interval
Every 6 months as a reference value,
3 months on construction

If an error rate of less than 2% is reached during the inspection,
the inspection interval can be extended to a maximum of 1 year
(valid for machines on construction sites, in production facilities
and workshops).

Type of inspection
The proper condition of the machines and equipment must be
inspected.
Inspector
Electricians or persons trained in electrical engineering when using
suitable measurement and inspection devices.
