Enabling Load Sharing
All A75D(E)
units include the Load Sharing feature. Load sharing allows the customer to parallel with any
identical A75D(E) to share a DC load and therefore reduce the strain on each charger. Chargers to be
paralleled
MUST
be of the same output.
In order to load sharing properly, at least 10% of the total load
capacity must be applied.
*
Before making any connections to the A75D(E) ensure that the AC Power is off at the main breaker box and
that all of the units’ breakers are off. Verify that no voltage is present by using a voltmeter at all input and
output terminals.
2.7.1 Load Sharing Procedure without Batteries/Loads
Preparing for load sharing without loads is easier and should be considered first if possible.
1.
Power up the chargers without anything connected on the output. Adjust the float and equalize output
voltages of each individual unit to same desired level.
2.
Turn off all chargers.
3.
Connect the DC output of both chargers in parallel to the same DC load/battery.
4.
Connect the
Load Share-Enable
terminal of one charger to the
Load Share-Enable
terminal of the
second charger. Repeat if using more than two chargers. This connection can be made with a 16 AWG wire.
5.
Turn on all chargers.
6.
Wait for batteries to become fully charged and/or loads to stabilize. Check each unit for equal load sharing.
Minor voltage increases can be made to unit carrying lesser load.
2.7.2 Load Sharing Procedure with Batteries/Loads
1.
Connect the DC output of both chargers in parallel to the same DC load/battery.
2.
Connect the
Load Share-Enable
terminal of one charger to the
Load Share-Enable
terminal of the
second charger. Repeat if using more than two chargers. This connection can be made with a 16 AWG wire.
3.
Turn on all chargers.
4.
Once batteries are fully charged and/or loads are stabilized, turn OFF all chargers except for one.
5.
Take a voltage reading on the output of the charger and adjust the float output voltage to desired level.
6.
Turn on the next charger, turn off the first charger.
7.
Set the output voltage of the second unit to match the first.. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the rest of the
chargers, if more than two chargers are used.
8.
After all chargers have been adjusted, turn ON all chargers.
9.
Follow the same procedure for setting the equalize voltage.
