ALTERNATE AIR
Alternate air is provided automatically from a spring-loaded door in the
air filter box. This door should open if the air filter is blocked,
providing ample induction air. Pulling the corresponding control cable
on the instrument panel manually opens the door. An annunciation
appears on the PFD whenever the alternate air door is open.
PRESSURIZATION
The Lancair ES-P has been designed and tested to provide a reliable
and simple-to-operate system. It will require you to have a complete
understanding of its operation and follow a few simple procedures to
ensure the safety and comfort for you and your passengers.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The environmental system consists of a turbocharger bleed air system,
cabin air distribution system, pressurization and control system, and air
conditioning system.
The turbocharger bleed air system provides the air supply for
pressurizing the cabin. Temperature of the bleed air is controlled using
an air-to-air heat exchanger that utilizes ambient air to cool the bleed
air.
The cabin air distribution system consists of side panel ducting,
windshield defrost, foot warmers and an air conditioner. The side panel
ducts provide distribution to individual vents at the occupant’s feet.
Defrost allows part of the bleed air to be delivered to the windshield
defrost outlets. The air conditioner blower supplies recirculation
airflow to the overhead vents through the overhead console.
The cabin pressurization and control system consists of an outflow
valve mounted under the right rear seat, cabin altitude and rate selector,
electro-pneumatic operated vacuum solenoid valve, safety valve and
associated interconnecting plumbing and wiring. Cabin altitude and
differential pressure are displayed on a single 2-inch indicator on the
instrument panel that also incorporates the cabin rate of change control
and a barometric calibration adjustment.
