6 Principle of Operation
When the Borescope is installed and operating, the following points should be noted:
•
The thermal image obtained by the Borescope will be displayed in the LIPS NIR-B
software (Fig 6-1).

The thermocouple inside the probe measures the temperature at the end of the
probe. If the probe temperature gets too high, this could result in damage to the
probe/camera.

The thermocouple temperature alarm level is displayed in the status bar of the
LIPS software
•
If the Thermocouple status displays an alarm, re-
move the borescope from the process immediately.
•
If the thermocouple status shows a warning be pre-
pared to remove the borescope from the process.
In both cases, check the supply of cooling water to the probe (be sure to check the
temperature of the water and not just the flow rate). Depending on your applica
-
tion, it may be necessary to provide a separate cooling water supply for both the
probe and the thermometer jacket (Refer to section 4.1).
