Section 8: Maintenance & Lubrication
Maintenance
Proper servicing and adjustments are key to the long life
of any implement. Check all bolts for tightness after
several hours of operation. Replace worn, damaged, or
illegible safety labels by obtaining new labels from your
Land Pride dealer. With careful inspection and routine
maintenance, you can avoid costly downtime and repair.
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Always secure equipment with solid supports before
•
Do not alter implement or replace parts on the implement
with other brands. Other brands may not fit properly or
meet OEM specifications. They can weaken the integrity
and impair the safety, function, performance, and life of the
implement. Replace parts only with genuine Land Pride
parts.
Roller Chains & Sprockets
Refer to Figure 8-1 & Figure 8-2 on page 54:
Your drive system uses standard #40 roller chain and is
designed for low maintenance.
General Chain & Sprocket Maintenance
1.
Inspect all chains and sprockets for wear and replace
as needed.
2.
Clean and lubricate all roller chains with chain
lubricant as needed.
All Seeds Drive Chains (#1, #6, #16)
Refer to Figure 8-1:
1.
Check take-up of idler sprocket (#17). If needed
loosen 3/8"-16 lock nut (#18) and adjust idler
sprocket (#17) to tighten/loosen chain (#16).
2.
Tighten lock nut (#18) to the correct torque.
3.
Check take-up of idler sprocket (#2). If needed
loosen 3/8"-16 lock nut (#3) and adjust sprocket (#2)
to tighten/loosen chain (#1).
4.
Tighten lock nut (#3) to the correct torque.
5.
Check take-up of idler sprocket (#5). If needed
loosen 3/8"-16 lock nut (#4) and adjust sprocket (#5)
to tighten/loosen chain (#6). When finished, tighten
lock nut (#4) to the correct torque.
6.
Check chains (#1, #6, & 16) to ensure they are not
over-tightened.
Grass & Small Seed Standard Sprockets & Chains
Figure 8-1
Grass Seeds Standard Chains (#9 & #10)
Refer to Figure 8-1:
1.
Check take-up of idler sprocket (#7). If needed
loosen 3/8"-16 GR5 bolt (#8) and adjust
sprocket (#7) to tighten/loosen chain (#9).
2.
Tighten bolt (#8) to the correct torque.
3.
Check chain (#9) to ensure it is not over-tightened.
4.
Check take-up of chain (#10). If needed, loosen
5/16"-18 lock nuts (#11) and adjust bearing (#12)
vertically to adjust chain take-up. Tighten lock
nuts (#11) to the correct torque.
5.
Check chain (#10) to ensure it is not over-tightened.
Small Seeds Drive Chain (#15)
Refer to Figure 8-1:
1.
Check take-up of idler sprocket (#14). If needed,
loosen 3/8"-16 lock nut (#13) and adjust
sprocket (#14) to tighten/loosen chain (#15).
2.
Tighten lock nut (#13) to the correct torque.
3.
Check chain (#15) to ensure it is not over-tightened.
