Driveline Installation
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Do not engage power take-off while hooking-up or
unhooking the driveline, or while someone is standing near
the driveline. A person’s body and/or clothing can become
•
All guards and shields must be installed and in good
working condition while operating the implement.
•
Do not use a power take-off adapter. The adapter will
increase strain on the tractor’s power take-off shaft causing
possible damage to shaft and driveline. It will also defeat
the purpose of the tractor’s power take-off shield.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Always follow “Tractor Shutdown Procedure” provided in
this manual before dismounting the tractor.
•
Do not operate a broken or bent driveline. Such a driveline
will break apart while rotating at high speeds and can cause
serious injury or death. Always remove the implement from
use until the damaged driveline can be repaired or replaced.

The driveline is bolted to the spreader drive unit shaft and
coupled to the tractor power take-off shaft with a push
pin:
1. Park tractor with Pendulum Spreader on a level
surface. Raise spreader to align drive unit input shaft
level with tractor power take-off shaft Securely block
spreader at this height to keep unit from lowering
while attaching the driveline.
2. Place gear selector in park, shut tractor engine off,
set park brake and remove switch key.
3. Lubricate inner driveline profile as instructed on page
48 before hooking-up the driveline.
4. Remove plastic cover on input shaft of drive unit.
5. Align yoke on inner driveline with drive unit shaft and
push yoke partway onto the drive unit shaft until bolt
holes in driveline yoke and drive unit shaft align.
IMPORTANT:
The drive unit, tractor and driveline
can be damaged if driveline is installed improperly.
Be certain to follow all installation instructions.
IMPORTANT:
Always check driveline length for
each different tractor the spreader is attached. An
additional driveline may be required when more than
on tractor is used.
IMPORTANT:
The driveline must be lubricated
before putting it into service. Refer to “Lubrication”
IMPORTANT:
Some tractors are equipped with
multi-speed power take-off ranges. Be certain your
tractor’s power take-off is set for 540 rpm.
IMPORTANT:
The tractor’s power take-off shaft and
spreader drive unit shaft must be level with each
other to obtain the shortest distance between the
two shafts.
NOTE:
Remove paint from inside of yoke bore with
an emery cloth before attaching driveline to the
spreader’s input shaft
