Operation
Warning:
use the 540 RPM PTO to control implements
designed for that rotation speed or the 1000 RPM PTO (or
540E RPM PTO) for implements designed operate at 1000
RPM (or 540E RPM)
Synchronized ground drive power take-off
Use of the synchronized rear power take-off with the gear-
box is solely designed for towing self-driven trailers and,
more generally, for all those farming implements which
have to operate in synchronism with tractor movement
and which do not require more than 40 - 45% of rated
engine power.
Whichever forward gear is engaged, the splined shaft of
the PTO accomplishes, for each turn of the rear wheels
:
IMPORTANT:
when using the synchronized PTO and if
you are forced to reverse once or several times, remem-
ber that the driveline inverts its spinning diretion. Thus,
with certain implements, it is advisable to disengage the
PTO when reversing in order to avoid serious damage
Direct power take-off
The direct PTO is mainly used to operate the driving
pulley, hydraulic pumps and machines that require high
speeds. It can be accessed by removing the cover (E).
The speed is the same as that of the engine while the
spinning direction is anticlockwise, viewing the tractor
from the rear part. Use the PTO controls to operate it.
Engage the clutch by slowly moving the control lever
(A) down to the ON position.
Warning:
when the PTO is not used, keep the
control lever (A) of the relative clutch in the down
position (PTO engaged) and disengage the PTO
with the relative control. When working with the
PTO, only disengage the relative clutch for the
time strictly required to carry out the various
manoeuvres.
Warning:
when using the PTO and the tractor is
stationary, always make sure that the lever of
the speed range selector is in neutral and that
the parking brake is engaged.
Independent power take-off
The independent power take-off can operate at 540
RPM with a 1944 RPM engine rate or at 1000 RPM with
a 1916 RPM engine rate (540E RPM with a 1392 RPM
engine rate on request).
It is directly driven by the engine and its operation is
totally independent of tractor advancement.
The PTO can be used with the tractor both at a stand-
still and moving. It is therefore possible to:
stop the tractor without stopping the PTO driveline
(by disengaging the gearshift clutch);
stop the PTO driveline without stopping the tractor
(disengaging the gearshift-power take-off clutch).
The former option is of use when the machine blocks
and the tractor must be momentarily stopped, allowing
the PTO to turn until the machine has been disengaged.
The latter option is of use during short no-load move-
ments or headland manoeuvres where the PTO must be
stopped while allowing the tractor to move.
To switch from the 540 RPM speed to the 1000 RPM
speed (or 540E RPM) and vice versa, use the speed
selector lever (C, Fig.13) which can assume two
positions:
forwards (1) = 540 RPM PTO.
back (2) = 1000 RPM PTO or 540E RPM PTO.
The speed must be changed with the PTO disengaged
by means of the relative lever.
