Cleaning
Routine cleaning is an important part of maintaining your
Lauge Jensen motorcycle. Routine cleaning ensures that the
motorcycle’s appearance will last for many years. A diluted
mixture of car wash/wax is recommended, as this will help
protect the motorcycle against corrosion, while also improving
its appearance. After washing, the motorcycle must be dried
thoroughly to avoid corrosion.
**
Warning
** A defective bulb will reduce visibility of
the motorcycle for other motorists, which compromises
safety. A defective bulb should therefore be changed as
quickly as possible.
**
Caution
** Never use solvents or detergents. Avoid
spraying powerful jets of water near the instruments,
brakes or wheel bearings. High-pressure washing systems
should not be used. Prior to washing it is recommended that
the openings in the exhaust silencers are covered and that
switches and sockets in the electronic injection control are
protected against intrusion of water.
**
Warning
** After washing, the brakes should be tested
before driving the motorcycle again. Water may affect bra-
king effi ciency, which can cause you to lose control of the
motorcycle, which may result in personal injury or loss of life.
Replacing bulbs
Loosen the tap screw at the base of the light (see fi g. 29 item 1).
Then carefully unscrew the headlight casing (see fi g. 29 item 2).
Use a mandrel to remove the connecting ring (see fi g. 29 item 3).
Remove the rubber gasket (see fi g. 29 item 4). Finally, the dish
is removed while supporting it so as to avoid straining the wires.
Both bulbs can be accessed from the rear side of the dish. It
is very important to insert the dish correctly, so that “TOP” is
facing upwards (see fi g. 30). All other lights on the motorcycle
are LEDs with an extended lifetime, and shall be replaced by
Lauge Jensen in the unlikely event that one of them fails.
