Signal Present Indicator
The color of the backlight indicates whether signal is present at the input to the source. There are three possible
states:
·
Off
(not lit) = input signal level < -40dBr.
·
Green
= input signal level > -40dBr.
·
Red
= input signal level > +6dBr.
Please see
to see how the dBr values equate to your system's operating levels.

Channel ON/OFF & PFL
On a Fader Start console, the upper key turns the channel
ON
(or off); the lower key activates
PFL
(pre-fade
listen).
On a Button Start console, the same keys turn the channel
ON
and
OFF
, and pre-fade listen (
CUE
) moves to the
small soft keys described earlier (2).
When the channel "on" state is active, its post-fader signal feeds the summing bus outputs (as defined in
mode). This allows you to quickly add (or remove) a channel from the PGM outputs.
The channel on/off operation differs in the following ways.
Fader Start Consoles
The fader motors are active and the channel "on" state is conditional on the fader position. This allows you to
open and close a fader (and its audio) automatically from the
ON
key.
·
To quickly turn on a channel, press the
ON
key - it lights in red and the fader opens to 0dB.
·
To quickly turn off a channel, press the
ON
key again - the light goes out and the fader closes.
·
To fade the level in or out, move the fader - the channel
ON
key indicates the on/off status.
Button Start Consoles
The fader motors are inactive and the channel "on" state is independent of the fader position. This allows you to
prepare a level and then turn
ON
the channel's audio at a later stage.
·
To quickly turn on a channel, first open the fader and then press the
ON
key - the channel turns on at
the prepared level.
·
To quickly turn off a channel, press the
OFF
key - the channel turns off but the fader remains open. This
allows you to quickly start the channel again by pressing the
ON
key.
·
To fade the level in, press
ON
and then open the fader.
·
To fade the level out, press
ON
and close the fader - the
ON
key cancels and the
OFF
key lights. If you
keep hold of the fader you can re-open the channel without having to prime the
ON
key again.
