System Operation
This section describes the operation of the Defender Press Brake Guarding System from
power up.
6.1
Power-up
When the Defender is first powered it displays a start-up screen with the message
SYSTEM
STARTING
–
PLEASE WAIT,
while it waits for the PGS-2 to complete its power on start-up test.
Once the PGS-2 is initialised, the screen will change to the standard Idle screen as shown in
. Whenever the machine is idle for more than five minutes, it will return to the Idle
screen.

6.2
Start-up Test
When first started, the Defender must perform an overrun test to test the function of PGS-2
emergency stop outputs, and the stopping performance of the press brake. The operator is
warned of the upcoming test by the message in the Status screen, see

Immediately after power up the emergency stop outputs are in the
OFF
state. Press the Reset
button to turn on the E-Stop and Enable outputs.
