DANGER! Start the chain saw only when all its parts are in place, including the
guide bar and chain.
Starting a cold engine
Before starting the engine, apply the chain brake by pushing the chain safety lever
all the way forward (fig.30)
1) Place the chain saw on a stable surface.
- Check that the area around the guide bar and the chain is free from any object.
2) Rise the "I" lever (Fig.31 part.1).
3) Pull the air knob down (Fig.32 part.1) "CHOKE" .
4) Fully press (4/5) down the fuel primer (fig. 1 part 33).
5) Do not operate the throttle lever.
6) Lock the chain saw in position as shown in fig.34.
Firmly hold the chain saw handle with your right hand (fig.34 - 1) and rest your right knee on the
filter box (fig.34 - 2).
– Make sure the area around the bar and the chain is free of any objects.
7) Give the starter cord handle a strong pull, until the first coughs from the engine (normally not
more than 4/5 times) fig. 34-3.
ATTENTION to the possibility of the chain moving.
8) Fully press down the air knob (choke) (fig. 35), so that the “THROTTLE ADVANCE” - START
remains engaged.
Do not operate the throttle lever.
9) Continue to pull the starter cord until the engine starts.
CAUTION-HAZARD! the cutting chain moves because the throttle trigger is partially
advanced.

Hold the chainsaw firm (Fig.34) letting the engine and chain run for at least 15 seconds (for
pre-heating).
10) Using the palm of your hand, press the throttle trigger lock-out (fig. 36 part. 1) and then
press the throttle trigger (fig. 36 part 2); this way “THE THROTTLE ADVANCEMENT” will
disengage and the engine will run at minimum speed.
11) Do not use the chainsaw if the chain moves at the minimum engine setting.
Instead, apply to a service centre for assistance.
12) Do not move or transport the chainsaw with the engine running.
During transport, cover the bar with the protector provided.
