1. The ram must be in the original position.
2. Tilt the log so that the filling opening is pointing upwards.
You may call a second person to hold the log splitter upwards.
3. Remove the dipstick (12 Fig.26).
Do not lose the gasket when removing the dipstick.
4. Clean the dipstick and the gasket.
5. Insert the dipstick into the opening.
6. Pull out the dipstick gauge.
- When the oil level is between the two marks (“a” and “b”, see Fig.27), the tank contains
enough oil.
- When the oil level is below the
lower mark “a” (see Fig.27), it is necessary to add oil with a clean funnel.
7. Check the gasket. Replace if damaged.
8. Tighten thoroughly the dipstick.
Attention! To prevent damage to the seal and the thread of the cylinder head, the screw must
not be over-tightened.
b) When to change the oil
Do the first oil change after 50 hours, then drain every 250 hours or once a year.
c) Oil change
1. The ram must be in the original position.
Make sure all moving parts have stopped and that the log splitter is unplugged.
2. Place a 4 liters container under the log splitter.
3. Unscrew the cap of the oil tank. Do not forget the seal during removal.
4. Then tilt the machine (Fig.28.a) to drain the oil from the tank.
If necessary, ask a second person to come and help you hold the log splitter
5. Then tilt the machine so that the filling opening is pointing upwards (Fig.28.b).
6. Pour hydraulic oil (2.4 liters) using a clean funnel.
7. Clean the dipstick and the seal.
- Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick in the tank, while maintaining the vertical splitter.
- Remove the dipstick and check the oil level is between the two points (“a” and “b”) (Fig.27).
8. Check the gasket. Replace if damaged.
9. Tighten thoroughly the dipstick.
Attention! To prevent damage to the seal and the thread of the cylinder head, the screw must
not be over-tightened.
10. Regularly check the oil level ; and refill when necessary.

3. Clean the dipstick and the gasket.
4. Insert the dipstick into the opening.
5. Remove the dipstick.
