Wear shoe replacement is not required if the wear is confined only to the top or bottom
chromium plate of the wear shoe assembly (see Figure 8-2). In such a case, only replace the
plate that shows signs of wear.
To replace wear shoes, proceed this way:
1.
Shift the control levers and cycle the unit several
times while observing the wear shoes and action
of the packer and carrier panels. Watch for sideways movement or twisting to determine where
new wear shoes may be needed.
2.
Remove capscrews (1), lockwashers (2), spacers
(3) and cover weldments (4) for both upper
and
lower track holes on each side of the tailgate.
3.
Shift the control levers and cycle the panels as necessary
to align the upper and lower wear shoes
with the
track holes.
