Removal of the Tailgate Assembly
For this task, apply the following procedure:
1.
Release the tailgate clamps and swing away.
2.
Disconnect and remove the tailgate lift cylinders (see
Removal of Tailgate Lift Cylinders
3.
Disconnect and cap the hydraulic lines.

4.
Attach chains, connected to a suitable lifting device
with a minimum lifting capacity of 7500
lbs
(3402
kg) to the tailgate as shown in the next illustration. Operate the lifting device no more than
necessary to support the
weight of the tailgate.
