Assembling the coupling unit (fig. 10)
When used with drum brakes, hub gears and a frame guard, the supplied
rubber tapes must be applied to guarantee a uniform frame diameter.
a) Adjust the rubber tapes to the diameter of the cycle frame.
b) Apply rubber tapes at the front and rear of the fixing brackets.
Fit the coupling unit as shown in the illustration.
Note: First tighten the top two screws (V) then tighten the bottom two
nuts (VI, VII) (fig. 8).
The vee block of the outer coupling plate must be in full contact with the
cycle frame
Tighten the screws uniformly. Do not overtighten. The coupling pla-
tes must be parallel to one another and must not be bent (fig. 9).
Note: on cycles with thick frames, when disk brakes are fitted and with
sprung rear frames (mountain and city bikes), use of the rear extension
coupling unit or the hub coupling unit is recommended. Both of these are
available as accessories.
Coupling and uncoupling (fig. 11–17)
Coupling
Open the coupling lever by pressing the shorter arm upwards with your
thumb and flicking over to the front.Kupplung seitlich über den Zugteil
Push the coupling attachment from the side over the towing block on the
coupling plate.
Close the coupling by flipping the longer arm to the rear and then pres-
sing down until the coupling locks in place.
Warning: Ensure that the coupling lever is fully locked home.
Check that the tow bar is securely fixed by pulling against it to the side.
Loop the safety strap around the cycle frame and fasten the ends together
with the strap buckle.
Warning: For safety, it is essential to fit the safety strap.
Uncoupling
Unfasten the safety strap
Open the coupling (see above)
Pull the coupling attachment off to the side.
Re-close the coupling.
Note: to avoid damage, always store the trailer with the coupling closed.
