6.1
Switching on the NOVOLAS Basic AT
When the main power switch is enabled, the System Master requires about 20-30
seconds to start the software. In addition, the emergency stop control unit will run a
self-diagnosis, taking about 5 seconds.
The system can then be started by first switching the Laser Enable key switch to “ON”
and pressing the blue Reset button on the front panel of the NOVOLAS Basic AT.
Alternatively, the Reset may be activated by shorting for 100 to 500 ms terminal 1 and
2 on the terminal block with a potential free switch. It is possible to press the reset
button before the System Master software is started. However, the start will be
delayed until the software is ready. After a successful reset, the cooler will start
cooling and the current source will be connected to the mains supply.
The system will then wait for the temperature of the cooling liquid to go below 23°C.
At the same time, each of the Basic AT module will be identified and the software
version will be tested. (It is therefore necessary to change the configuration file in
case modules are being replaced. Please contact a Leister service representative for
support). After this, all Basic AT laser modules will be initialized and wait until the
temperatures of the laser modules are below their maximum cooling temperatures
(usually 21°C). After all the modules have been ini tialized, the system is ready for
operation. (This is indicated by active signals on terminals X15.9 andX15.6 of the
Customer I/O, as described previously).
Initializing the Basic AT:
1. Turn Main Switch. Wait for 3-5 seconds.
2. Press Reset button (Press it for at least 100 ms).
3. Starting from Step 1, it takes about 30s for the control PC in the System
Master AT to initialize.
4. The cooler will take about 1-2 min to cool down the cooling liquid. Depending
on the ambient temperature, this may take a bit longer.
5. As soon as the cooler has cooled down the cooling liquid, the laser module is
ready ( the signal lamps on the Laser module are both glowing green now).
6. Should the cooler change into alarm state at this point, the conductance value
of the DI water is not right. Let the Basic AT run for about 30 minutes and wait
for the alarm to stop.
7. Turn the key switch. After 3-4 seconds, the Basic AT is ready to operate. In
this 3-4 seconds, the system will verify whether the Interlock is closed.
