Chapter 7: DEC-6804 Decoder and DES-6804 Decoder with Frame Synchronizer
Installation
To ensure stable and trouble-free service, the DEC-6804 and DES-6804
modules have been carefully inspected, tested, and calibrated before
shipping. Check the equipment for any visible damage that may have
occurred during transit.
The DEC-6804 and DES-6804 modules are designed to operate in an
ambient temperature range of 0
°
to +40
°
C. No special provisions for
cooling are necessary, but take care to prevent excessive heat in closed,
unventilated equipment racks.
Jumper Settings
The DES-6804 module includes two jumpers:
J4
and
P5
. The DEC-6804
module includes only the
J4
jumper.
Jumper
J4
allows you to select either
Termination On
or
Termination Off
for video input.
Jumper
P5
allows you to select either NTSC/PAL input
Loop-Through
or
75
Ω
Internal Termination
as genlock input options. When you select
Internal Termination
, NTSC and PAL-B can be connected
simultaneously.
Figure 7-5 illustrates the location of the
J4
and
P5
jumpers. The
J4
jumper is shown in the
Termination On
position; the
P5
jumper is shown
in the
Internal Termination
position.
See
the table on “Jumper Configurations” on page 87 for more
information.
If the NTSC/PAL
Loop-Through
is not connected on the
DES-6804 module you must
provide a 75
Ω
termination either
externally, or by setting the
P5
jumper to the
Internal
Termination
position.
