Chapter 7: DEC-6804 Decoder and DES-6804 Decoder with Frame Synchronizer
LED Indicators
Most of the LED indicators operate in a straightforward manner.
However, when you make changes to your decoder settings, you must
watch the
D1
and
D2
LEDs together to choose the correct parameter
groups.
Because there are a large number of parameters on the DEC-6804 and
DES-6804 decoders, you need four different parameter groups for each
application. Two parameter groups are common to NTSC and PAL-B
applications, and two additional parameter groups separately apply only
to NTSC or PAL-B.
See
“Parameter Groups” on page 92 for more
information.
D1 and D2 LEDs
To make changes in the correct parameter groups, first watch the
D1
(
Bank Mark 0
) and
D2
(
Bank Mark 1
) LEDs together. The on/off
combination of these two LEDs shows which parameter group you have
selected.
For example, if the
D1
LED is
Off
, and the
D2
LED is
On
, you have
selected parameter group
C
.
If the
D1
LED is
On
, and the
D2
LED is
Off
,
you have selected parameter group
B
.
The table below shows the four
D1
and
D2
LED combinations that
indicate which parameter group is active.
D3 to D8, and D16 LEDs
The remaining LEDs on the DEC-6804 and DES-6804 decoders provide
status information using signals that are on, off, or blinking.
See
the table
“LED Indicator Descriptions” on page 90 for a complete list of all LED
indicators and their meanings.
