ADC-6880 Analog to AES/EBU
Digital Audio Converter
Overview
The ADC-6880 analog to digital audio converter converts two channels
of balanced analog audio into a single AES3-1992 digital audio signal at
20-bit resolution. It can be used in any of the Leitch 6800 or 7000 series
frames, and can be used as a standalone A-to-D converter, or in
conjunction with several A-to-D converters linked by a common
external sampling reference signal. The ADC-6880 is available with 75
Ω
unbalanced digital outputs when used in the 6800 series frame, or 75
Ω
unbalanced and 110
Ω
balanced digital outputs when used in a 7000
series frame.
The ADC-6880 utilizes a 20-bit, 64X oversampling Sigma-Delta A-to-D
converter that can sample the audio signal at 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz, based
on an external reference signal, or on an internal reference signal
generated on board. The audio signal may also be sampled at variable
rates from 32 kHz to 50 kHz, based on an external reference signal.
The input to the ADC-6880 can be AC- or DC-coupled, and the input
attenuation can be set in calibrated 2 dB increments from +16 dBu to
+30 dBu maximum analog audio input levels. A gain control allows
continuous adjustment of ± 2 dB.
