Solar Tracker Orientation
If you site is in the Northern Hemisphere, north of the Equator, the Solar Track should be “pointed south.” If you are in
the Southern Hemisphere, south of the Equator, the Solar Tracker should be “pointed north”.
The Yard should be aligned with the north-south meridian for your site’s location.
5.3
Footing Installation and Concrete Pour
5.3.1
Solar Tracker Footing
Once the location of the LEMA Off-Grid is chosen, dig a hole for the footing. The hole should be 1.17 Meters (46 inches)
deep by 0.41 meters (16 inches) in diameter (see figure below for dimensions). A cardboard Sonotube is provided for a
form if the soil is loose. The cardboard Sonotube is only used on the top 0.23 meters (9.0 inches) if soil is compacted and
does not cave in. The top of the cardboard Sonotube should be 0.10 meters (4.0 inches) above top of soil. Cut a hole in
cardboard Sonotube to route the PVC Tubing. The bottom of hole should be 0.23 meters (9.0 inches) below top of soil.
