POST error codes
The following table describes the POST error codes and suggested actions to correct the detected
problems. These errors can appear as severe, warning, or informational.

Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is
solved.

Hardware Maintenance Manual
to determine which components are customer replaceable units (CRUs)
and which components are field replaceable units (FRUs).

If an action step is preceded by “(Trained service technician only),” that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.
v
Go to the Lenovo support Web site at http://www.lenovo.com/support to check for technical information, hints,
tips, or new device drivers.

Microprocessor not supported.
1.
(Trained service technician only) Reseat the
microprocessor and restart the server.
2.
(Trained service technician only) Remove the
microprocessor and install a new microprocessor.
Restart the server. If the error is corrected, the old
microprocessor is bad and must be replaced.
3.
Replace the following components one at a time,
in the order shown, restarting the server each
time.

Invalid microprocessor type.
1.
Update the server firmware to the latest level (see
“Updating the firmware” on page 103).
2.
(Trained service technician only) Remove and
replace the affected microprocessor (error LED is
lit) with a supported type (see “Installing the
microprocessor” on page 60).

Microprocessor failed BIST.
1.
Update the server firmware to the latest level (see
“Updating the firmware” on page 103).
2.
(Trained service technician only) Reseat the
microprocessor.
3.
Replace the following components one at a time,
in the order shown, restarting the server each
time:
