Step 6. Use one finger to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery. The system battery pops
up when it is released.
Step 7. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket.
Step 8. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Installing the battery
Use this information to install a battery on the system board in the blade server.
The following notes describe information that you must consider when you are replacing the battery in the
blade server.
• You must replace the battery with a lithium battery of the same type from the same manufacturer.
• After you replace the battery, you must reconfigure the blade server and reset the system date and time.
• To avoid possible danger, read and follow the following safety statement.

CAUTION:
When replacing the lithium battery, use only IBM Part Number 33F8354 or an equivalent type battery
recommended by the manufacturer. If your system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace
it only with the same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and
can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of.
