8. Note the orientation of the new system fan and then insert the new system fan into the chassis until
it is secured into place. Connect the cable of the new system fan to the system fan connector on
the system board.

packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Replacing the front panel board
Attention:
Do not open your storage product or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety
information” on page iii and “Guidelines” on page 41.
Before you begin, print all the related instructions or ensure that you can view the PDF version on another
computer for reference.
Notes:
• Depending on the model, your storage product might look slightly different from the illustrations in this
topic.
• The illustrations in the following procedure show the front panel board for 3.5-inch hard disk drives.
• The front panel board is extremely sensitive to ESD. Ensure that you read and understand “Handling
static-sensitive devices” on page 42 first and carefully perform the operation.
To replace the front panel board, do the following:
1. Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the storage product.
Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to
the storage product.
2. Prepare your storage product. See “Removing or extending the storage product from the rack cabinet”
3. Remove the storage product cover. See “Removing the cover” on page 43.
4. Locate the front panel board.
