Replacing a memory module
Attention

This provides instructions on how to remove and replace a memory module.
1.
Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 85.
Note:
For this procedure, it helps to lay the computer on its side.
2.
Locate the memory module connectors. See “System board connectors” on page
84.
3.
Open the retaining clips.
If you are replacing an old memory module, open the retaining clips and
remove the memory module being replaced as shown.
4.
Position the new memory module over the memory slot. Make sure that the
notch

on the memory module aligns correctly with the slot key
2
on the
system board. Push the memory module straight down into the slot until the
retaining clips close.
