Installing the TMM

Attention:

Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information”

on page iii and “Guidelines” on page 63.

To install the TMM, do the following:

1. Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then,

disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to
the server.

2. Prepare your server. See “Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet” on page 65.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 65.

4. Remove the Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 720i PCIe Adapter. See “Removing a PCIe card” on page 95.

5. Position the TMM above the Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 720i PCIe Adapter and align the two holes in the

TMM with the two pins on the adapter. Then, lower the TMM straight down until it is securely seated.

6. Install the Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 720i PCIe Adapter with the TMM. See “Installing a PCIe card”

on page 86.

Removing the TMM

Attention:

To remove the TMM, do the following:

1. Remove all external media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then,

disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to
the server.

2. Prepare your server. See “Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet” on page 65.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 65.

4. Remove the Lenovo ThinkServer RAID 720i PCIe Adapter. See “Removing a PCIe card” on page 95.
