10. Install the four screws to secure the new heat sink and fan assembly and the backplane on the system
board. It is recommended that you carefully install the four screws using the following method to
avoid any possible damage to the system board.
a. Partially tighten screw

11. Connect the heat sink and fan assembly cable to the microprocessor fan connector on the system
board. See “System board components” on page 37.
Note:
If the heat sink and fan assembly cable is long, loosely wrap it.
12. If you are instructed to return the old heat sink and fan assembly, follow all packaging instructions and
use any packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
