4. Remove all the installed hot-swap HDDs and dummy trays (if any) from the HDD cage, then disconnect
all the cables from the backplane. See “Removing a hot-swap drive” on page 77.
5. Lift the release latch and slide the HDD cage out of the chassis.

6. Open the plugger that secures the backplane, carefully lift the backplane a little bit up to release it from
the HDD cage, and then remove the backplane.

7. If you are instructed to return the old backplane, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
