When you remove or install a fixed power supply, observe the following precautions.
Statement 8
CAUTION:
Never remove the cover on a power supply or any part that has the following label attached.
Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside any component that has this label
attached. There are no serviceable parts inside these components. If you suspect a problem with
one of these parts, contact a service technician.
To remove a fixed power supply, complete the following steps:
Notes:
• If one fixed power supply is installed in the server, you must turn off the server before removing the
power supply.
• You must install the fan assembly before removing or installing the power supply.
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins in “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on
page 163.
Attention:
Static electricity that is released to internal server components when the server is
powered-on might cause the server to halt, which might result in the loss of data. To avoid this
potential problem, always use an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system
when you work inside the server with the power on.
Step 2.
If only one power supply is installed, turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect
all power cords.
Step 3.
Loosen 4 screws from the rear side of the server and pull the fixed power supply out of the server
as the illustration showed.
