Auto* - Printer examines the data to determine the format, and then processes it appropriately.
Protocol
Purpose: To specify the parallel interface protocol.
Values:
Standard - May resolve some parallel interface problems.
Fastbytes* - Provides compatibility with most existing parallel interface implementations
(recommended setting).
Mode 2
Purpose: To determine whether the parallel port data is sampled on the leading or trailing edge of
strobe.
Values:
Off - Samples parallel port data on the trailing edge of strobe.
On* - Samples parallel port data on the leading edge of strobe.
MAC Binary PS
Purpose: To configure the printer to process Macintosh binary PostScript print jobs.
Values:
Off - Printer filters PostScript print jobs using standard protocol.
On - Printer processes raw binary PostScript print jobs from computers using the Macintosh operating
system. This setting often causes Windows print jobs to fail.
Auto* - Printer processes print jobs from computers using either Windows or Macintosh operating
systems.
USB menu
Use the USB menu to change printer settings affecting a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port.
Note: An asterisk indicates the factory default value.
NPA Mode
Purpose: To specify whether the printer performs the special processing required for bidirectional
communication, following the conventions defined in the Network Printing Alliance (NPA) Protocol.
Note: Changing this menu item resets the printer.
Values:
Off - Printer does not perform NPA processing.
On - Printer performs NPA processing. If data is not in NPA format, it is rejected.
