Malfunction Diagnosis and Related Parts
This chapter describes the symptoms of malfunctions and errors and their causes.
The most likely cause appears in the beginning of the list.
•
Part replacement is an option that should be considered only if there is a repeating problem, and when you perform it
refer to the procedures in "Relevant parts/execution order". If the problem persists after replacing the part, reinstall the
part on the PC. Pay special attention to avoid replacement of parts with no defects.

System Booting and Shutdown Problems
System Reset
•
If the system crashes and you cannot shut down or turn on the system, you should reset the system as follows.
1 Connect the AC adapter.
2 Long press the power button for more than 4 seconds to forcefully shut it down.
3 Check if the system restarts successfully.
•
If the product such as laptop has a battery in it, refix the battery and check if the problem is gone.
•
Refix the battery according to the following instructions.
CAUTION
!
1 Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery
2 After mounting the battery, connect the AC adapter.
Check AC adapter
Check if the AC adapter power cable is correctly inserted into the outlet.
Check if the AC adapter plug is correctly inserted into the outlet.
•
Check the AC adapter in the following order.
1 Remove the AC adapter cable from the PC.
2 Measure the output voltage of the AC adapter power plug. Refer to the following figure.
3 If the voltage is wrong, remove the power cord from the AC adapter.
4 After about 10 seconds, connect the power cord and measure the output voltage of the AC adapter.
5 If the voltage is wrong, replace the AC adapter.
