Safety Inspection Guide
The goals of the safety inspection is to help them being aware of the potentially risky environments. Each product is equipped
with safety devices that can protect the users and the service technicians. The guide shows such devices. During service, you
need to check the potential risks imposed by attachment of option items not suggested in the inspection guide or the product
not sold from LG Electronics. If there are many factors for insecurity, determine the level of risk and also whether you can
proceed further without fixing the problems.
Consider the following conditions and risk factors.
Items
Risk Factors
Electrical danger, especially the main power (the main voltage for the system frame can cause a severe or fatal
electrical shock.)
Mechanical risks such as loosely installed or slipping hardware components.
According to the following inspection items, turn off the power and separate the power cord and start your inspection.

Inspection Details
Check for damages to the external cover. (Loose or broken or sharp edges)
Turn off the PC. And remove the power cord.
Inspect the power cord.
Ʃ
3 wire ground connector status (using a tester, check if the resistance between the external contact pin
of the 3 wire ground connector and the system ground is below 0.1Ω.)
Ʃ
Use the type of power cord that is listed in the part list.
Ʃ
Make sure that the insulation part is not worn out or old.
Remove the cover.
Check if there is a non authentic LG device used. If an alternative device than authentic LG product is used,
check the safety very carefully.
Thoroughly check if there is a factor for causing damages such as by metallic materials, pollutants, water or
liquid or ignition inside the device.
Check if any cable is worn out or old or if it has holes.
Check if the power supply's cover fixing iron (screw or rivet) is removed or changed.
Handling Parts Sensitive to Static Electricity
Parts containing transistors or IC are mostly sensitive to static electricity (ESD).
Static electricity damage can occur due to the difference in charges between objects.
By making sure that everyone handling parts, as well as systems, working mats, and parts have the same potential, you can
prevent EDS damages.
•
If the requirements listed here do not exist, use the product related ESD processes.
•
Check if the ESD protection device in used is certified with ISO 9000.
