TMC (Traffic Message Channel)
What is Traffic Message Channel (TMC)
The Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is a spe-
cific application of the FM Radio Data System
(RDS) used for broadcasting real-time traffic
and weather information. Data messages are
received silently, decoded, and delivered to a
TMC enabled navigation system that can offer
dynamic route guidance alerting the driver of
a problem on the planned route and calculat-
ing an alternative route to avoid the incident.

the method they are displayed.
Service Information
When you are in an FM TMC service area,
your Navigator receives traffic signals as soon
as you connect the TMC module to your
Navigator. You need to be in range of an FM
station transmitting TMC (Traffic Message
Channel) data to receive traffic information.
Traffic Message Alerts
Traffic (TMC) messages are national and
regional public radio FM transmissions that
are used to inform drivers of traffic, weather,
and other driving conditions.
Traffic Event
This displays incidents in your area.

This allows you to check how many traffic
incidents have occurred, their location, and
their distance from your current position.
Touching an incident you want to see allows
you to view the detailed information about the
incident. If the information cannot be
displayed on one screen, touch

view the remaining information.
If you touch
when navigating a route, you
can see the existing traffic event list on the
route.

The line color represents the traffic condi-
tions as follows;
It appears only when the scale on the map
is 800 m or lower.
Stop and go : Orange
Stopped traffic : Red
Closed/Blocked : Black

Traffic icons appear only when the scale on
the map is 800 m or lower.
•
If there is a traffic jam on your route (at
least 1 km ahead on an ordinary road, while
driving on the motorway, 3 km ahead), the
navigation system automatically searches
for detour possibility.
•
The version for the location information
received from broadcasting station and
applied by Navigation software may be dif-
ferent. In the case, the location information
of event lists may be incorrect or not exist.
