Dynamic Address Query
The Switch’s dynamic address table contains the MAC addresses learned by monitoring the source address for
traffic entering the Switch. When the destination address for inbound traffic is found in the database, the packets
intended for that address are forwarded directly to the associated port. Otherwise, the traffic is flooded to all
ports.
You can query the forwarding database to find specific dynamic MAC addresses, or view MAC addresses
associated with a specific interface or VLAN.
Dynamic Address Counts
. The number of addresses dynamically learned on the Switch.
Interface
. Indicates to display MAC addresses for a specific port or LAG.
MAC Address
. Indicates to display details for a specific MAC address.
VLAN
. Indicates to display MAC addresses for a specific configured VLAN (1-4094).
Address Table Sort Key
. Sorts the information displayed based on MAC address, VLAN, or interface (port or LAG).
Specify the search type (that is, check the Interface, MAC Address, or VLAN checkbox), select the method of
sorting the displayed addresses, and then click
Query
. The dynamic addresses that conform to the search criteria
are listed in the text box. To delete a MAC address from the forwarding database, select the entry in the displayed
list, then click
Remove
.
Admin Tab - SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a communication protocol designed specifically for managing
devices on a network. Equipment commonly managed with SNMP includes switches, routers and host
computers. SNMP is typically used to configure these devices for proper operation in a network environment, as
well as to monitor them to evaluate performance or detect potential problems.Traps indicating status changes are
issued by the Switch to specified trap managers. You must specify trap managers so that key events are reported
by the Switch to your management station (using network management platforms such as HP OpenView). You
can specify up to five management stations that will receive authentication failure messages and other
notification messages from the Switch.
You can add up to five new community strings. Enter a name and select the access rights from the Access Mode
drop-down menu. These strings act as passwords, they are case-sensitive and can be up to 32 characters long.
Strings can be specified for read-only or read/write access. Once this is entered, click
