Setting the Exploding Boxcar
1. Pull the spring arm back into the trigger mechanism as illustrated in Figure 9. Spring
tension should hold the spring in place until the locking pin is inserted in the next step.
At this point, keep your fingers clear of the spring arm.
A mousetrap-like mechanism is triggered to cause this car to “explode.” When
the mechanism is set, keep your fingers out of the path of the metal arm. The
mechanism can go off at anytime. Do not allow children to operate or set the
Exploding Boxcar.

2. Place the roof onto the boxcar as illustrated in Figure 10 and insert the locking pin through
the holes in the roof and the frame. This will lock the trigger in place.
