Replacing the caboose’s interior lamp
T
he interior of your caboose is illuminated by one 14-volt lamp, Lionel part no. 600-0161-300.
During the course of normal operations, this lamp may require replacement. Replacement
lamps are available at your authorized Lionel Service Center or from Lionel Service in
Chesterfield, MI.
1. Carefully lift the curved ends of the ladders out of the slots in the
roof. Refer to Figure 18.
Be careful not to scratch the caboose roof with the ends
of the ladders.
2. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws from both
ends of the car. Refer to Figure 19.
3. Lift away the body.
Be careful with the wires that attach the body to the
frame.
4. Carefully pull the expired lamp straight up and out of the socket,
then install the replacement bulb. Refer to Figure 20.
If you accidentally pull the entire socket away from the
frame, simply press the crimped copper bracket over the
vertical tab on the frame.
5. Replace the body onto the frame. The two end platform posts and
the tabs that receive the screws should be located inside the body.
6. Replace the screws at the ends of the car.
7. Carefully replace the ends of the ladders back into the slots in the
roof.
