Assembling your flatcar with airplane
T
o ready your flatcar to carry its airplane
load, remove all packaging first. In order
to affix the airplane to the flatcar, you may
choose to use the 14 stakes provided, the elastic
tie-down, or both. It’s up to you. Please note
that the original Postwar flatcar with airplane
had an elastic tie-down only. If you are using
the stakes, insert them in the corresponding
slots as indicated below. The airplane’s landing
gear must be retracted and the wings must be
folded to protect them from trackside obstacles
while your train is in operation.
To lock the wings in flight position, retract
the landing gear, and hold the plane bottom-
side up. Then position one wing perpendicu-
lar to the side of the plane.
CAUTION: Do not snap in the wing. Bear
slightly downward on the wing to engage
both sides of the center lock with the lock
channel. Press the wing firmly toward the
side of the plane—snapping its two side
locks into the slots on the fuselage. Repeat
the procedure with the other wing.
If the wing tends to flop down-
ward, the center lock is not
engaged in the lock channel.
