BATTERY INSTALLATION

OPERATION

To Install Batteries:
1.  Remove the Battery Compartment Door by pressing and sliding the door down.
2.  Insert 2 x 1.5 Volts “AA” size  or equivalent batteries, observing the correct polarities as indicated in the

battery compartment.

3.  Replace cover.

1.  Select the desired Waveband i.e. AM / FM, via the Band Selector Switch.
2.   Switch the Radio ON by turning the ON / OFF Volume Control, as indicated by a clicking sound.
3.  Tune in to the desired Radio Station by using the Tuning Control and set the Volume Control to the

desired listening level.

4.  To switch the Radio OFF, turn the ON / OFF Volume Control until you hear it click ‘OFF’

EARPHONE

To enjoy your radio in privacy, use the supplied earphone. Plug the 1/8-inch (3.5mm) earphone into the
radio’s EAR jack. This automatically disconnects the built-in speaker.

LISTENING SAFETY

To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use the earphone:
•  Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the

volume to a comfortable level.

•  Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended high-volume listening can lead to permanent

hearing loss.

•   Once you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so a
volume level that does not cause discomfort might still damage your hearing.

TRAFFIC SAFETY

Do not wear the earphone while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can cause a traffic hazard
and is illegal in some areas. Even though some earphones are designed to let you hear outside sounds
when listening at normal volume level, they still present a traffic hazard.

ANTENNA

Your radio is equipped with a built-in ferrite bar aerial for improved AM  reception and a telescopic rod
antenna for improved FM reception.  As the built in ferrite bar aerial is directional, rotate the radio slowly
to find the position, which gives optimum reception on AM.  When listening to FM broadcasts, extend the
telescopic rod aerial to its full length, for best reception and clarity.
