REMOTE
ENABLING
There are three ways to enable the EcoKnight™ Water Heater as follows;
1.
Using night setback mode – this uses the EcoKnight™ water heaters internal clock and can be used to program 7 stop
times and 7 start times. Refer to section 21.1
For more intermittent control of the EcoKnight™ water heater then the BMS function can be used as follows;
2.
Using a 0-10V signal via connections 35-36 and referring to section 21.7
Enable BMS and set type to set point
Set point at minimum volts should be your required minimum set point (50
⁰
C for example)
Set point at maximum volts should be your required set point (60
⁰
C for example)
Volts at minimum should be set to 2V
Volts at maximum should be set to 10V
To enable the EcoKnight™ water heater supply a voltage above the minimum voltage on the 0-10V input 10 V
10V will give the maximum set point, lower voltages will adjust the set point.
To disable the EcoKnight™ water heater drop the voltage to below the minimum voltage (below 2V in this
example) and the water heater will have no demand.
It is possible to vary your set point using this method by altering the voltage supplied to the 0-10V input, you may wish to have a set
point of 70
⁰
C at 10V and then run the unit at say 8V to achieve 60
⁰
C and then to run a pasteurisation cycle lift the voltage to 10V
thus increasing the set point to 70
⁰
C.
3.
Using a volt free enable signal via connections 15-16 referring to section 21.7
If the building does not have a BMS but you wish to enable at intermittent times meaning the night setback function is not
possible, then the BMS functions can still be used as follows;
Enable BMS and set type to set point
Set point at minimum volts should be your required set point (60
⁰
C for example)
Set point at maximum volts should be your required set point (60
⁰
C for example)
Volts at minimum should be set to 0V
Volts at maximum should be set to 0V
Set BMS thermostat input to active
Now use terminals 15 and 16 tank thermostat and run to your enable relay – the EcoKnight™ water heater will
be enabled/disabled by making and breaking connections 15&16
