Appendix: Troubleshooting
This chapter will provide step-by-step instructions for diagnosing problems. It will have three sections:
•
Using the remote’s built-in
Help
feature;
•
A chart of commonly encountered problems and solutions;
•
Contact information for the Help Desk (free Logitech Technical Support)
Note that the help desk option is provided
last
. The intent of providing the user a written manual is to
significantly reduce the customer frustration and lost profit inherent in high utilization of live support.
Every user who can successfully program the remote without live assistance is a potential promoter of
subsequent sales for Logitech.
As this device has been for a while, the help desk logs should be used as a tool to prioritize the most
common use and programming stumbling blocks. Obviously, we don’t want to frighten the consumer by
having this section be massive.
An alternative to a comprehensive Appendix would be to have an interactive help file (search, index,
contents) created covering programming and troubleshooting issues, hosted on the user website. It could
be much more comprehensive without revealing the total number of potential issues at a glance.
