Opening the Tailgate
Using the transmitter key:
See page 18.
Using the release button:
Pressing the
tailgate release button in the driver's
door panel will release the latch, allowing
the tailgate to be opened. The boot lamp
will also illuminate whenever the tailgate
is opened.
Opening - vehicle moving:
Pressing the
tailgate release button will release the
tailgate latch if the vehicle road speed is
below 9 mph (15km/h).
Opening - vehicle stationary:
Any of the
follow conditions will operate the tailgate
release button for up to 10 minutes if:
- The ignition is in the ‘Off’ position (see
page 39).
- The driver’s door is opened whilst
ignition is in the ‘Off’ position.
- The locked vehicle is then unlocked and
the driver’s door is then opened (see
pages 19 - 20).
WARNING
The ventilation grilles on and around the
tailgate may become hot under some
operating conditions; take care to avoid
burn injuries.
When using the rear luggage compart-
ment, beware of any hot surfaces exposed
in the engine bay. Touching hot surfaces
could cause serious burns.
WARNING
The maximum weight of goods which
may be carried in the 4-seat Evora rear
luggage compartment is 110 lb (50 kg).
The maximum weight of goods which may
be carried in the 2-seat Evora cabin rear
shelf luggage net is 55 lb (25 kg).
Exceeding these limits can overload the
tires and affect the handling of the car
and result in an accident. Refer also to the
‘Wheels & Tires’ section of this handbook
for further information.
Closing the Tailgate
Pull down the tailgate and press firmly
over the center section of the spoiler
ensuring complete engagement of the
latch. Ensure that you do not inadvertently
lock the transmitter key in the boot.
WARNING
Before closing the lid/tailgate, ensure that
no persons or objects will be trapped.
If an open or incompletely closed tailgate
is detected when the ignition is turned on,
a warning will be shown on the vehicle
silhouette display within the left hand
instrument panel screen.
NOTICE:
If necessary protect and secure
luggage. Allowing sharp edged or heavy
items to move around the luggage com-
partment may cause body damage which
will not be covered by the Vehicle Limited
Warranty.
