Caution
Application of high temperatures and chemical sterilization tech-
niques, including immersion of the device in disinfecting solution is
strictly prohibited!
Caution
Do not allow the pins of the device connector to become wet. This
may cause a device failure. The interface cable may be damaged.
Caution
When disinfecting the interface cable by pulling it through a swab
or cloth moistened with disinfectant, do not apply excess tension
to the cable.
5.1.1
Recommended cleaning agents and disinfectants
• Hydrogen peroxide solution (3%) with 0.5% solution of ionic surface-active
substances
• Alcohol solution (ethyl or isopropyl alcohol) 70%
• Chlorhexidine gluconate solution (0.5%)
It is possible to use other approved cleaning agents and disinfectants with similar
active ingredients in the right concentration that are commonly used in hospitals.
5.1.2
Cleaning and disinfection
•
Disconnect the sensor plug from the Intensive care ventilator; disconnect the
airway adapter from the sensor.
• Clean and disinfect the surfaces of the sensor, which are not intended for
sterilization, by wiping them down with a gauze swab or soft cloth moistened
with one of the cleaning agents and disinfectants mentioned above. Squeeze
the cloth before wiping down the device to prevent liquid from entering the
device. Use only distilled water to prepare the cleaning and disinfection solu-
tion. Follow the instructions for use from the manufacturer’s of the cleaning
agents and disinfectants.
• Before the next application, check the sensor windows: they must be com-
pletely dry and clean. Also check the windows for stains from cleaning agents
or water.
