Safety instructions
3.1
General safety instructions
Reference
These instructions for use describe the product:
Medical equipment interface elisa@megs
Safe operation
In order to guarantee the safe operation of elisa@megs, the system must only be
used as described. Before putting the system into operation, users must familiarise
themselves with these Instructions for Use, with the Basic Instructions for Use of
elisa 300 to 500 or 600 to 800 and with the Instructions for Use Supplement E
“External Communication”.
Secure mounting
Check that the device is securely mounted on a standard rail.
Classification
elisa@megs is a Class I device according to Directive 93/42/EEC concerning med-
ical devices, Annex IX, section 3.3., rule 12.
Electrical hazard
The housing must be dry before the device is connected to elisa.
The system must be stored and operated at the temperature and humidity levels
indicated in chapter 7 “Technical specifications”.
The system must always be disconnected from elisa before cleaning, repair or
maintenance work.
Fire hazard
elisa@megs must not be used in potentially explosive atmospheres or in the
presence of flammable anaesthetics.
Risk of electromagnetic disturbance
Devices that generate electromagnetic disturbance at levels exceeding the values
of EN 60601-1-2 can affect the safe operation of the device.
Devices that generate high frequency fields and are installed close to the system
can affect the safe operation of elisa@megs.
Warning
elisa@megs must not be used in close proximity to nuclear mag-
netic resonance equipment (MRI, NMR devices).
