5. Mode of operation
The press process is executed via menu-controlled programs. During a
program run, the process goes through various heating and pressing
stages, which are defined as press profiles. Acoustic signals and display
messages announce the various pressing stages. The following
programs (press profiles) are available:
• LPKF Set
containing a permanently configured press profile for
pressing multilayers comprising four, six and eight layers using LPKF
standard materials in standard size.
• Profile1
to
Profile6
containing freely configurable press profiles for
special applications, materials and layout sizes.
In the MultiPress S with automatic hydraulic pump, the heating and
pressing stages are carried out automatically.
In the MultiPress S containing a hand pump, the pressure must be built
up before each pressing stage and controlled and tracked during the
entire press process. Display messages and acoustic signals indicated
required manual interventions, e. g. for inserting the material, and give
information on the stage change during the press process.
Note:
After inserting the multilayer into the press, the program sequence
must not be interrupted, since otherwise the pressing quality cannot be
guaranteed. Interrupt a pressing in case of an emergency only.
5.1 Press profiles
Press profiles contain the data for temperature, pressure, press times
and material size required for a press process. A press process always
takes place in several stages of different lengths of duration depending
on the press profile. In these stages, different temperatures and
pressures are established.
5.1.1 Heating and pressing stages
Operating the MultiPress S with automatic hydraulic pump, the stages
are carried out automatically after inserting the material.
In the MultiPress S containing a hand pump, the pressure required for
each stage must be built up manually and controlled and tracked during
the stage sequence. This is true in particular of the beginning of the main
pressing stage and during the entire cooling stage.
