Connecting the APX 1000 dc power supply
Warning:
Before installing wires to the unit’s dc power terminal block, verify that these wires
are not connected to any power source and that the APX 1000 power supply switch/circuit
breaker is in the Off (left) position. Installing live wires (wires connected to a power source) is
hazardous.
The APX 1000 dc power supply has a terminal strip with three terminal screws. The center
terminal screw is for connection to ground potential. The two active input connections are:
-48Vdc (top terminal) and Return (-48Vdc common return, bottom terminal). The -48V and
Return connections are isolated from ground.
!
Caution:
Before connecting power, the APX 1000 chassis must be grounded. See the Access
Networks Safety and Compliance Guide for additional safety instructions and circuit regulatory
information.
To connect power to an APX 1000 dc power supply:
1
Remove the lexan cover over the terminal screws
2
Attach the proper wires to the terminals as illustrated in Figure 3-11
–
Use solid copper 12AWG (4.0mm) wire
–
Use terminal lug part number PV12-6HDR-L or equivalent
3
Replace the lexan cover over the terminal screws
A single drop to all APX 1000 units on one rack is acceptable. Figure 3-11 shows an example
of wiring the dc terminal block.
