Equipment and Front Access Cable Installation for the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer
Lucent Technologies - Proprietary
See Notice on first page
(1) Obtain an ED-8C724-20, Group 394 DS1 timing cable and connect to J266 of
the Group 210 front access cable of the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf that will be
receiving DS1 timing on it’s incoming OC-12 optical fiber.
NOTE:
for bays containing multiple shelves that will have DS1 timing multed
between the shelves, the shelf that will be providing sync to the reference
clock should be mounted at the bottom of the bay.
(2) Obtain a Group 151, 152, 182, 183 or 153 (D.A.) DS1 timing cable listed in Table
3-6 on page 3-38 and connect it to J266 of the Group 394 cable connected in
the last step.
(3) Route the timing cable out of the DDM-2000 OC-12 bay per Figure 3-20 on
page 3-65 or Figure 3-21 on page 3-66 to the DS1 timing reference, stacking
the cables as shown in Figure 3-2 on page 3-47.
(4) Dress and tie the cables in the bay and as close to the DDM-2000 OC-12 back-
plane as possible without touching any backplane pins.
(5) . If the bottom shelf (shelf 1) position is unequipped for future growth, leave
enough cable to allow moving the cable down to the bottom position when the
shelf is eventually added.
(6) Cut the cable to the desired length and wire-wrap the loose end of the DS1 tim-
ing cable to the output of the DS1 reference clock making connections as shown
in Table 3-14 on page 3-44.
(7) Obtain an ED-8C724-21, Group 458 DS1 timing cable and connect it to P266 of
the Group 212 front access cable of the same shelf.
(8) Wire-wrap the loose end of this DS1 timing cable to the sync input of the DS1
reference clock making connections as shown in Table 3-14 on page 3-44.
OC-12 Intershelf DS1 Timing Connections
NOTE:
Perform this procedure to daisy chain the timing for the remaining shelves in the
bay and to connect them to the same DS1 reference clock as the shelf that is
providing the synchronous timing.
NOTE:
for DS1 timing to be delivered to all shelves in the bay, DS1 timing cable mults
from shelf to shelf must be daisy chained down to the bottom shelf. Do not skip
any shelves.
(1) Obtain a Group 151, 152, 182, 183, or 153 (D.A.) DS1 timing cable listed in
Table 3-6 on page 3-38 and connect it to J266 of the Group 210 front access
cable of the 2nd shelf up from the bottom of the bay per Figure 3-21 on page 3-
66.
