Floor Drilling
NOTE:
Local Central Office practices always supersede this document.
(1) Determine the number of anchors required.
ED8C805-50, Group 1 furnishes the anchors shown below:
(2) Drill the floor for each anchor per job specifications or as follows:
a. For drop-in anchors, drill a 5/8 inch diameter hole to a depth of 2-1/8
inches.
b. Vacuum or otherwise remove all dust from the hole.
c. Place the drop-in anchor into the hole and verify that the anchor is flush or
under flush to within 1/16 inches with concrete surface.
d. Set the anchor using the setting tool per the anchor manufacturer’s
requirements. Verify that the anchor is not loose and has properly
expanded.
Alignment and Hold Down Procedure
(1) Move the bay to its designated location. Take care when moving the bay to avoid
sudden shock or strain to the equipment.
(2) The bay can be lifted upright by two or more people. For added safety, located at
the very top of the bay are three 5/8-inch by 11 UNC (UNified Coarse) holes.
These holes are for lifting. When required, assemble eye bolt (5/8-inch by 11
UNC) into these holes, and tie off with some rope temporarily to some solid
structure overhead or use a hoist. Lift the bay and move it to the proper location
in the lineup. Visually inspect for obvious damage.
(3) The bay frame has a center line marking on the front and rear base of the frame
which should be use for aligning the frame to its center line marked on the floor.
(4) Thread the studs into the drop-in anchor and continue threading the bolts until
they reach the full depth in their the anchors. ED8C805-50, Group 1 provides
four 841068208 Continuous Thread Studs (1/2-13 x 3-1/4’)
(5) Remove the front and rear guard rail covers.
